Phnom Penh Capital Administration: Those Refusing to get Booster Shot Won’t be Allowed to Enter Business Locations

PHNOM PENH: The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration has decided to strengthen the examination of immunization licenses under the Phnom Penh Capital Administration, which includes state units under the jurisdiction of the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration, the Board of Education, the Market Commission, market owners, restaurant owners and recreation center owners.

According to the Phnom Penh Capital Administration, those businesses locations should strengthen and examine everyone who enter their place, prohibiting entrance for those without a vaccination card or those who have already been vaccinated but in time to receive a third dose, still refuse to take it.

In the instruction shared this Tuesday, the Phnom Penh Capital Administration has urged all units and all sectors to participate in disseminating information to remind government officials, subordinates and the general public about the need and urgency for Covid 19 vaccination.

The Phnom Penh Capital Hall also urges all citizens to bring their children to be vaccinated at all locations designated by the Phnom Penh Capital Hall, which has also ordered all units of educational institutions, factories, enterprises and businesses to compile statistics and update the number of vaccinated people in its units, encouraging those who have not been vaccinated.

The Phnom Penh Capital Administration has stated: "Owners of all locations in Phnom Penh must strengthen the validation of Covid-19 vaccination card or Covid-19 immunization certificate before giving the permission to an individual or client to enter their unit or location. In the event that any person or client is found to have no immunization license or refuses to show the immunization license, or if using the immunization license but with a gap of more than 4 months after the first dose, or more than 6 months after the second dose should not be allowed to enter the location”.

The statement also says that in case someone has not followed such requirements, business locations and other public unites must instruct the person to get the Covid-19 vaccine in a timely manner.

Phnom Penh Capital Hall also urges all citizens to check their health. If there is any suspicion related to the new Covid-19 Omicron, the person must inform the local authority so that the doctors can get PCR samples and wait for a result, while the person does not need to leave the place where he or she is staying.

In addition, the Phnom Penh Capital Administration has also ordered lower-level authorities to pay attention to the promotion of health measures. If any person is found to have violated such health measures, sanctions should be implemented, as well as legal sanctions, including public disclosure of the perpetrators.

The Phnom Penh administration's move comes after Cambodia has found 14 cases of Omicron community outbreaks, while Prime Minister Hun Sen has urged people to get vaccinated to ensure a strong immune system and prevent the spread of Omicron, the new Covid-19 mutation.
